Using your Gifts and Talents as an Author, Speaker or Coach to Create Residual Income

Recently I met with one of my clients who is a gifted business and life coach and author. I developed his website many years ago but he never made any changes to it or did anything to market it. He wasn’t too concerned because he was selling a good number of his books on Amazon and through a book distributor. His main source of income however is through live mentoring of a business consulting group of business owners within a local geographic area. If he loses members or stops the group, his income is reduced or eliminated. This is called trading your time for dollars.

When we met for lunch, I really didn’t know what he had in mind – I just saw the bigger picture of what he could be doing. When he asked for a simple change in his website to sell his books, I asked him if he just wanted to sell books and continue trading his time for dollars or create some RESIDUAL INCOME using his gifts and talents to help many more people. I could almost see the light bulb go off when I expanded his vision by showing him how he use his book and some podcasts to capture people into a list who would receive his eNewsletter and other offers for a core workbook product, audio book product and other future products that they would purchase and share with their network through email, Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, Myspace, etc.

I almost had to peel him off the ceiling when we left PF Changs after our lunch meeting. We decided to convert his website into a blog that would allow him to interact with his market, build an email list and sell his products. Through social media marketing, blogging and email marketing, he will create a marketing funnel that will produce residual income and freedom to create his ideal and most desired life.
